Learning About Buffalo
Learning about buffalo has been a never ending quest
for me (Carol) ever since we decided to raise buffalo. It has taken
us to many new and
interesting places and events, and brought us countless new friends.
I will never reach the point,
thank goodness, when there is nothing new to learn about my
woolly friends.
Sharing the things that I have learned about buffalo has become another special pleasure for me. I am glad you have joined me on this page, and would love to tell you some of the things that I have learned. To tell you what life is like for buffalo on the farm, BUFFALO TODAY is a story that I wrote for the Missouri Bison Association cookbook,COOKING WITH AMERICAN BUFFALO. Happily, I can add pictures here to illustrate the story, and I hope you enjoy it.
BISON BEHAVIOR AND MANAGEMENT was a presentation that I gave to Buffalo Producers at the first Missouri Bison Assn. Conference. It is a practical look at what is required of people who are interested in becoming Buffalo owners. If it raises questions as well as answers them for you, then I would be happy to discuss them with you.
I spend much of my time with the buffalo. They don't talk much,
but they say a lot. Their
body language speaks volumes and their eyes are amazing!
There is a depth to
them that makes me think they know far more about life and
the world than I can
ever comprehend. When I look into those eyes, it makes me
try to understand as
a buffalo would. THROUGH BUFFALO EYES
is a group of perspectives
that I have written for the
Missouri Bison Assn. newsletter, THE
QUARTERLY GRUNT, of which I
am now editor.
I hope you
will enjoy the view "through
buffalo eyes".
